A PIAÇAVA
The Attalea funifera mart., commonly known as piaçava, is a palm native to the Atlantic Forest in southern Bahia, Brazil. Its long fibers were traditionally used by Indigenous populations for general purposes and during the colonial period, it was widely applied in the manufacture of ship rigging. The extract of its fibers is done manually. The piaçaveiro grows?mounts?climbs? tthe palm by sustaining themselves on the leaf stalks, pulling the fibers that detach from the sides between the stalk and the tree trunk.
THE COCONUT
The primary raw material used in the creation of Atitocou Jewerly is the coconut found in the piaçava palm. Its wood has a high carbon concentration, a significant characteristic that aids in the environmental preservation and conservation through an efficient natural carbon capture.
ADDITIONAL MATERIALS
Additional materials are also incorporated such as non-ferrous metals, including copper, brass and recycled silver, alongside colored paper.
Our atelier is dedicated the practice of reusing metal scraps and paper remnants, crafting new artifacts without compromising the importance of a production process that aligns with contemporary values and environmental responsibility.
